Privacy Policy

Swift Auctions is a business-to-business marketplace where vehicle dealers buy and sell cars, heavy trucks and equipment by auction, on the web and in our iPhone app. This policy explains what we collect, why, who can see it, and how to delete it. Questions: info@swiftauctions.ca.

What we collect

• Account details — your name, work email, password (stored only as a secure hash), phone number, business name, business address, country and, if you add one, dealer licence number.
• Listings — vehicle details you enter or decode from a VIN, photos, disclosures, condition notes and any reports you attach.
• Marketplace activity — auctions you run, bids you place, your watchlist and the notifications we send you.
• Push notifications — if you allow them in the app, a device token from Apple so we can notify that device.
• Security data — IP address, browser or app version and request logs, used to keep accounts safe and limit abuse.

We do not use advertising trackers, we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not sell personal data.

How we use it

• To run the marketplace: list vehicles, run auctions, take bids and record the outcome.
• To confirm your email address with a one-time code when you sign up.
• To send you account emails and bid, auction and sale notifications by email and push.
• To prevent fraud and abuse, and to answer support requests.
• To meet legal and accounting obligations.

Who can see what

• Dealers browsing the marketplace see your listings, including your business name and the vehicle's city.
• Other bidders never see who you are: bids are shown as "Bidder 1", "Bidder 2". The seller of a lot sees the dealer names of its bidders.
• A reserve price is visible only to the seller.
• When a sale is agreed, the buyer and seller can see each other's business contact details so they can arrange payment and handover.

Service providers

We use a small number of providers who process data only on our behalf:

• Amazon Web Services — hosting, database and private photo storage (EU, Frankfurt region).
• Resend — sending our emails.
• Apple Push Notification service — delivering push notifications to your iPhone.
• VIN decoding services (auto.dev and the US NHTSA vPIC database) — receive only the VIN being decoded, never your personal details.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete your account, your personal details are removed as described below. Records of completed auctions and bids that other dealers took part in are kept without your identity, because they form part of those dealers' own records. Copies in routine backups are removed as those backups expire.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time: in the iPhone app go to Profile → Delete Account, or on the web go to Profile → Delete account. This removes your name, contact and business details, your sign-in, unsold listings, watchlist, notifications and devices. If a deal is still open, you will be asked to finish it first. You can also email us to ask for deletion — see Delete your account.

Security

Passwords are stored as secure hashes, all traffic is encrypted in transit, and vehicle photos and reports are kept in private storage and shown only through short-lived links.

Your rights

You can see and correct most of your details in your profile. To request a copy of your data, or to raise any privacy question, email info@swiftauctions.ca.

Who the service is for

Swift Auctions is for businesses and is not directed at anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app or by email.
